Engaging Youth Through Film

Engaging Youth Through Film is a NEW initiative developed in partnership with Focal Point Productions (Martin Denny).Expressionary arts is a very successful way for youht today to express themselves, share their world, their thoughts, their solutions to what they face in today's world.
"WANNA GO VIRAL?"
PURPOSE:
To engage at risk youth in the Tri-Cities area in a work shop that harnesses the participants’ energy and enthusiasm for learning the craft of film-making. Film projects will be identified and selected by the youth participants.
STRUCTURE
One day a week. Evenings, starting at 7:00 PM. The workshop will initially be for 60 minutes and then build up to 90 minutes. It is anticipated that each workshop cycle will run for six weeks.
CONTENT
The work shops will cover the full basic elements of creating a visual story – from script to screen.Participants will actively work together to create a story/concept for their project. They will then plan and execute to a successful conclusion. Under professional guidance, the participants will be responsible for all technical aspects of the process, camera operation, sound, lighting, editing etc.

OUTCOMES
Participants will learn the following:
• Team work, collaboration & co-operation
• Practical, employable, technical skills
• Planning and organizational skills
• Enhanced communication and creative aptitude
